Cast in Secret cover scan

I'm not sure this is going to work. Well, okay, I know parts of it didn't work already, because the scanner is sort of a photocopier, and it was set up for 8x11 pages, and the cover was longer than the 11 part.

I'm not entirely sure you can resize this, so I'm going to post it and then go back and look. Sorry. Clutz at work.

Oooh looks great!

Wow. That's a great cover! I'm really impressed. And the partially-obscured tagline on the back intrigues me :-)

[identity profile] yhlee.livejournal.com 2007-04-05 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
That's a lovely cover. :-)

I want it. NOW!

Yes, I know I must wait but still...

Wow nice cover. Looking forward to the book.

Very pretty. The first Cast cover made the book an impulse buy for me, and I hope this one will do well by you.

Wow. Nice. :)

It's beautiful.

That is a good cover...it looks more like the one for Shadow, which I liked better. Is it my imagination, or has Kaylin been promoted?

Thanks for posting the scan.

Is it my imagination, or has Kaylin been promoted?

This would be why they're called Cover Proofs. I hope.

[identity profile] book-wench.livejournal.com 2007-04-05 04:33 am (UTC)(link)
Beautiful! I can hardly wait to see it for real.

Ooh nice! A beautiful cover, the statues make it quite striking.

I like the way the photoshopped the Lion's Head onto the statue on the right. But wasn't Kaylin a dark brunette? *checks previous covers*
Yup, on the first cover she had not light brown highlights.

Very atmospheric, though.

*nitpicker extraordinaire*

Addendum: Then again on the second cover she had lighter hair already.

[identity profile] msagara.livejournal.com 2007-04-05 07:52 pm (UTC)(link)
But wasn't Kaylin a dark brunette?

She looks like a Brunette to me, so it's possible that the scan or the alternately, the post of the scan, is too light or faded.

I actually liked the cover for COURTLIGHT because I really liked the colours, the combination of blue and gold; I also liked the texture on the photo-composition's figure. In general, colours are often the first thing I see, though.

But I think I've been lucky with all three covers so far, and of the three, I think the third book's is the one I like best.

Hi, I'm a bit of a lurker. Sorry if I don't reply to posts often, I just don't feel that I have much to say.

I do this often as well (although it is true that I generally leap in with mad abandon when I do feel I have something to say.)

I often find that someone else has said anything I could say, though -- so I never feel bad about lurking. Also, some people are sometimes shy in groups they're not familiar with, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. Public boards are meant for all kids of readers.

Beautiful cover! Always a joy for an artist when it actually does click with the writing, so I hope -that- was the wail, hm?
I have to admit that it was the cover of Hunter's Oath that initially drew me to your work, so I'll be eternally grateful to that artist. Otherwise, I might not have come across your amazing worlds. I think this particular cover has that same type of appeal.

Only thing I'm not nuts about is that its not a wraparound, but the statue is simply mirrored in the back - but then again, the back has text so most people likely won't notice that. ;) Can't wait!

Ummm, no -- the wail was the undignified sound of an author discovering that Jody Lee has finished the painting for her DAW novel, House War: The Hidden City (Title entirely provisional, but it was what I could think up), and that said author hasn't seen it yet ;_;.

(Using IE 6)

The image tag is missing the .jpg extension; should be <img src="http://pics.livejournal.com/msagara/pic/00001wrg/s320x240.jpg">

I'll try to add this -- I used the default function to insert a picture that comes with the LJ interface. There are 2 URLs in the message -- the one for the small image, which is the "text" equivalent of the one that goes to the actual image, which would be the 320x240.jpg.

I'll add the .jpg to the text and hopefully that will help some, and I'll try to remember to do it in the future -- if it works when the tag is added. Thanks!

Very nice cover. I really liked the use of purple tones throughout this one and the back cover summary is intriguing as well.

This is the best so far. The courtlight cover didn't fit in with the book. Colors were good but woman's skin and hair coloring was wrong.

(Anonymous) 2007-04-15 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
Totally agree. The person on the second cover didn't match the one on the first. Oh, and thanks for putting up the back blurb too. I've been searching and searching, and haven't been able to find out what Cast in Secret is about. Well, until now. It was driving me crazy.

SO excited

That looks great! I can't wait to read this one too. I've been on the edge of my seat since courtlight! yay!

series

(Anonymous) 2007-08-08 08:01 pm (UTC)(link)
i enjoyed the 3rd book in the series. The notation on the subsequent planned two books says that they are not necessarily related to the first three, My comment is the story is not yet finished. Many issues are unresolved including Nightshade. /////

[identity profile] msagara.livejournal.com 2007-08-21 07:46 am (UTC)(link)
The fourth and fifth book in the series are part of the series; I'm not sure where the notation exists that says they're not necessarily related to the first three, but it was news to me o.o.
