My problem with revisions is keeping the momentum from writing. So far, I've only been able to complete a first draft by doing it fast and furious (during National Novel Writing Month (http://www.nanowrimo.org)), but with lots of outlining and prep work. For a while I kept the same momentum (ok, a little slowed down) and planned all my structural changes and started writing the new scenes and revising existing scenes... but then once I give myself a break to do other things, I find it very hard to get back into the routine.
