I think I should probably have made it more clear that I consider anonymity to be a privilege. I don't hate it, which wasn't all that clear in the context of the original post -- but I don't consider it a vital element of Freedom Of Speech, either. Defense of it as that kind of took hold, and germinated.
After the fact, it occurred to me that most LJ users don't post under their "real" names <rueful g>. This wasn't actually meant as an attack on the use of handles.
It was more of a rant about the concept of honesty & freedom & the fact that amazon.com is not under any obligation to pay for your ability to hide your identity, imnsho.
