Yeah, I remember being dissatisfied with the structure there, although I don't quite remember what struck me as off. The thing that irked me about that book was that we saw Ellen make the choice to marry the other guy (whose name I forget) for all sorts of reasons, and then when Marek came back we learned that she hadn't, in fact, slept with Other Guy because Other Guy was impotent. This made me roll my eyes very hard, because it seemed like it made things very very easy.
Madensky Square was fabulous. The library at college had that one. I was browsing through the fiction section for something to read one day and came across that, and I sat down in the stacks and read it there and then before checking it out.
