Wrt romance sales -- would you say some of that is due to "brand loyalty," or rather, author loyalty? My husband's grandmother read an amazing amount of romances, and she'd buy every Danielle Steele novel as soon as it came out, in hardcover (although Steele may not be classified as "strictly" romance -- I d'know). She didn't keep all the books -- in fact she donated most of them to libraries or Goodwill -- but she always bought them.
