I finally got around to checking on this! :) Bookscan divides its information into two "tiers". The first tier includes B&N, B&N.com, B Dalton, Borders, WB, Target, Costco, Fatbrain.com, and Hastings--from what I understand, they're grouped together because they're stable and have historical data that goes back for a consistent timeframe, making yearly comparisons more accurate. Tier 2 includes pretty much everybody else, and is a much more fluid group. Hope that's helpful--let me know if you want or need to know anything else.
