in general, i think facebook is more useful for maintaining relationships you've already made.
myspace is better for meeting/connecting with people. (although i agree with the above commenters that myspace's evil quotient is much higher -- malware, irritating teenyboppers and middle-aged men posing as irritating teenyboppers...)
technically, facebook will be easier for you to use. (it's more of a fill-in-the-blank editing process).
myspace will require some help probably.
take the mocking as a sign of love. :) my mother is on facebook now, and while my brother and I give her hell, it's just kinda fun that she's putting herself out there...
