As a kindle owner... be kind to us! I really wish I could sit in on that panel, I'm sure it will be wonderfully interesting.
I pretty much work with words; how people prefer to read them, if they do want to read them, is almost -- but not quite -- beside the point, to me. That said, my short answer to the panel question is 'No'. It's my strong suspicion that the people who are loving the kindle are already diehard readers; the kindle makes it possible to carry back-breaking loads of books in a way that doesn't. Break the back, I mean.
Although it's one of the questions I would ask at the panel: How many of you weren't already voracious readers?
