The two things I know are: a) he paid me, b) he emailed me a .pdf, and c) Gardner listed it in his honorable mentions in the YBSF for that year. I was concerned that the title might not fly, although it works with the story. Otoh, like all my SF, it's not the most upbeat of my works, and you're right - I'm not there. Hmmm.
