I'm about 99.99% certain that MM doesn't produce POD's given the agent's exceedingly negative but rather amusing opinion on POD's. I think that they -- like every other small press out there -- are working so close to the bone that it may seem like they're producing on demand.
"Woo hoo! We got an order for another 500 copies -- we can pay the printer!"
The good news is that they're working things out with a new distributor as we speak. Or at least they were Friday.
I wasn't allowed to buy books when I was a kid so libraries saved my life. Okay, maybe not actually my life but my soul definitely. Out of the author's copies I get, I give books to our three local (and very small and very much under-funded) libraries. This isn't as altruistic as it seems since in Canada, we get paid by the Public Lending Rights for copies of our books found in a search of a random ten libraries so I could possibly make some money back. Possibly. Okay, probably not. *g*
