I have news that is fit to be posted!

Well, two bits of news, really. The first: Jody Lee posted the painting of The Hidden City, the title of the first House War novel, on her official site, in the gallery. I have no idea what the painting will look like with text imposed over it -- but I adore the painting itself.

The second is Luna news. Some of you have written to ask me when Cast in Courtlight will be published in mass market, and I haven't been able to give an answer because I haven't had one until very recently. The answer is:

CAST IN SHADOW (reissue) by Michelle Sagara (978-0-373-80281-4) June 2008 (mmpb, $6.99/$8.50)

CAST IN COURTLIGHT (FTP) by Michelle Sagara (978-0-373-80282-1) July 2008 (mmpb, $6.99/$8.50)

But there's more:

CAST IN SECRET (FTP) by Michelle Sagara (978-0-373-80283-8) August (mmpb, $6.99/$8.50)

CAST IN FURY by Michelle Sagara in August (978-0-373-80269-2) has been moved to October (Trade, $14.95/$18.95)

So FURY has been bumped 2 months, because of the monthly mass market lead-ins. I'm pretty happy with this

Wow, you're getting another reissue of Shadow? Congratulations! I just finished reading Secret a couple weeks ago and I'm looking forward to Fury.

And I'm especially looking forward to The Hidden City. :)

Is that October of 2007? If so, I can get be there the day it arrives. When can we expect The Hidden City?

No, this is all in 2008. As is Hidden City, which is a March 2008 title.

So that's the news you were hinting at on Saturday. Very nice!

It's in her Portfolio section, not her Gallery.

And oh, my! Lovely!

2008 is charging up to be a very good book year.

Hurrah. That is, hurrah for your sales, but dammit for waiting two months! But hooray for that staggered re-release, and may it be fruitful.

Great news! Congratulations, and I'll look for the August releases.

Yes -- you'd need to be able to time-travel, in which case, you might have more pressing things to do...

I'm just happy it will have a relevant mm edition, though -- if it's not a lead-in for the third book in the series, it will be a solid lead-in (with the third) for the 4th.

Cast in Secret TPB reached Germany on Friday and I read it till 6 amm on Saturday. I very much enjoyed it, too. You're world is getting ever more widespread and still stays consistent.

The only guy I have problems with in his role is the fief lord, but you've never disappointed me yet, so I shall follow along. Cast in Fury in October? *preorders on Amazon.de*

I notice the paper gets thinner but there are more pages in each book :D.

Deleted the first comment because I couldn't find the painting...and then I did. Forgot to take the smart pills this morning, I guess, but it looks great. But still, hooray that Fury comes out when I will be on the right continent.

I went over to Jody Lee's website. Is it the pic called "House Wars - Bk I?" It seems more muted in color, at least in comparison w/other works of hers I've seen, both on covers and at con art shows. Did you get a photocopy or print(out) of the final painting? Is it brighter?

I got a c-print of the cover -- a glossy 8x11. The colours in a c-print are often off by a lot, so it's hard to be certain; the palette is very muted, but there's a richness to it, and to the feel of the stone garden, that doesn't work as well on the screen. It has a certainy intensity of tone, rather than vibrancy of colour, but that does suit the book.

That Jody Lee cover is both like and unlike her past works, and absolutely fantastic.

That was my response as well -- it's different, for Jody, but I love it. There's something about it than reminds me a little of Leo & Diane Dillon's work, although I'm not sure why.

This is all very good news! So glad your Luna books have not been effected by their cutback.

(Slides "Courtlight" up higher in the reading pile...)

I was very lucky, I think -- the books have a more contemporary fantasy cover (a number of readers have picked it up assuming it's contemporary fantasy because of the covers).

As someone whose career was likely torpedoed by a bad cover, I would bet that you are at the minimum partly correct.

Make that mostly correct, but I have no stats to prove it!

Hey :). I'm abut 2 chapters off the finish of FURY, and am starting pre-book reading for the next HOUSE WAR novel. I won't be at WFC or Worldcon this year, though =/.

Yippee!! Courtlight is being reissued! and I'm so looking forward to Cast in Fury. I can't tell you how many times I've recommended this series to friends and how we've all had the same reaction: it is SO different from anything we've ever read in the Sci-Fi/Fantasy genre and SO SO SO very good.

Thank you, once again, for sharing such an amazing gift of imagination and talent of story-telling.

I am such a dork!!!

I sent an email to you which you don't have to reply to now that I have read this I feel pretty blonde! The sender was "tileyk@iprimus.com" don't worry about me! lol. Sorry for the inconvenience.

The brisbane council over here doesn't have any of your books so it isn't easy for me to get my hands on them but I have borrowed my aunts copy of Cast in Shadow and i was obsessed but a little hasty in emailing you before I got enough info.

Sorry again, I realise how busy you are!

No, no, it's fine -- I think I did answer your email because I've been trying to work my way through email, and fine-tuning the grovelling based on how long it's been in my inbox >.>.
