The new Pratchett is a stand alone Discworld novel <g>. It features a new character, but is set in Discworld, and it's one of the adult books, so it's a decent length. I would probably read anything he wrote, though. Even the calendars. He has a particular turn of phrase that I find both funny and moving.
The post regarding relationships has spoken to a number of people; it almost makes me want to hold forth on the rest of my musings about relationships in general <wry g>.
